Burn XT vs Burn XT Black | Which is Better?

Here we have an in-depth comparison between Burn XT vs Burn XT Black. Both fat burners are claimed to boost your mental energy levels, increase focus, reduce sugar cravings, and of course, improve your metabolism. But which one is better? Here’s a short summary followed by a more detailed analysis.

SUMMARY (UPDATED FOR 2020): If you’re picking between Burn XT or Burn XT Black, you might want to consider the factors you’re looking for in a fat burner. Both Burn XT and Burn XT Black contain 270mg of caffeine+450mg of green tea extract, all in one serving. While caffeine can boost your energy levels, taking too much of it at once will only lead to an ugly crash afterwards. Burn XT Black contains additional caffeine in the form of Di-Caffeine Malate, which is a red flag unless you can tolerate this much, plus your normal daily caffeine intake. If you’re used to more aggressive fat burners, go with Burn XT. It should get you decent results, even though it’s not among our top 5.

Burn XT vs Burn XT Black – The Basics

Burn XT and Burn XT Black are both made by a same company – Jacked Factory.

These fat burners are made for men and women, and promise to help you lose weight in a natural and effective way.

  • Burn fat and maintain muscle – Preserve muscle tissue while on a caloric deficit
  • Suppress appetite – snack less throughout the day
  • Boost energy – Have more mental willpower and focus

So, what makes these two products different? Essentially, Burn XT is upgraded with a few more ‘nootropic’ ingredients, which can help boost cognitive function and focus. This will reportedly give you better control over your calorie intake and help you feel less ‘moody’ and irritated while dieting.

One additional difference is that Burn XT comes with 2 capsule daily serving, whereas Burn XT Black recommends taking 3 capsules once per day.

However, both of these serving schedules are flawed. When you only take a fat burner once per day, its ingredients will stay in your system for only so long. This leaves a lot of time between the doses where your body isn’t being fed with the fat-burning ingredients.

Obviously, this isn’t good if you’re looking to maintain 24-hour effects. This is the reason you’ll see the best fat burners using 3-4 servings per day. Taking a capsule every several hours provides more sustainable fat burning effects rather than gulping it all at once.

Okay, so that’s not looking too good – but what about the ingredients in Burn XT and Burn XT Black? See for yourself:

The Ingredients

Burn XT contains 5 ingredients – Acetyl L-Carnitine, caffeine, cayenne pepper, and green tea leaf extract.

Burn XT Black contains those same ingredients in the same doses, plus 4 additional ones: Theacrine, Theobromine, Theanine, and D-Caffeine Malate. So, what do these ingredients do? Do they make the Burn XT Black’s formula better? Or do they make it less safe?

Well, theacrine is a compound structurally similar to caffeine. Thankfully, it doesn’t have the same stimulant properties. If it did, it would be too much, because Burn XT original already has 270mg caffeine per serving, which is more than enough.

Theobromine is a compound found in cocoa beans, but isn’t proven to burn fat in any reputable human study. It can just make you jittery when you combine its stimulatory(ish) effects with caffeine.

Then there’s D-Caffeine Malate, which is essentially caffeine paired with Malic Acid. This combo is thought to prolong caffeine’s energy kick while reducing the crash. This would be a good choice if there weren’t so much caffeine in Burn XT Black already! Luckily, they’ve added L-Theanine to mitigate some of the negative side effects that you might get from combining so many stimulants.

Overall though, if you aren’t afraid of its aggressiveness, then Burn XT Black is worth looking into. Both products do come with a bit too much caffeine, and too much green tea extract, which makes us hesitant to recommend them.

Burn XT Ingredients

  • Acetyl L-Carnitine (700mg)
  • Green Tea Leaf Extract (450mg)
  • Caffeine Anhydrous (270mg)
  • Capsimax Cayenne Pepper Extract (50mg)
  • BioPerine Black Pepper Fruit Extract (5mg)

Burn XT Black Ingredients

  • Acetyl L-Carnitine (700mg)
  • Green Tea Leaf Extract (450mg)
  • Caffeine Anhydrous (270mg)
  • Capsimax Cayenne Pepper Extract (50mg)
  • BioPerine Black Pepper Fruit Extract (5mg)
  • Theacrine (100mg)
  • Theobromine (100mg)
  • Theanine (50mg)
  • Dicaffeine Malate (50mg)

Side Effects – Which Product is Safer?

Although Burn XT Black is more potent, it’s also the more aggressive than Burn XT original. With more stimulants per serving, it can give you side effects.

Especially if you aren’t used to consuming high doses of caffeine, or if you ingest additional caffeine from other sources (e.g. coffee, energy drinks) during the day.

So in that regard, Burn XT original takes the lead. If you think you can handle the effects though, then XT Black is the better choice.

Price and Value for Money?

Burn XT costs about $30 for a bottle of 30 servings, while the Black edition costs $40.

So essentially, 10 bucks more for 4 additional ingredients. We’d say that’s a decent deal, as long as you can tolerate the aggressive stimulants in Burn XT Black. The high dose of caffeine+di-caffeine malate+green tea extract combo doesn’t look like something we’d recommend anyone to take long-term though.

Our Conclusion to Burn XT vs Burn XT Black

All in all, Burn XT Black is a more aggressive version of the original Burn XT.

Granted, it does have L-Theanine which helps smoothen out the jitters and other side effects of stimulants in it, but it can still give you side effects if you aren’t used to this kind of supplement.

So, which version do we recommend? If it has to be one of the two, we’d go with the original Burn XT. It’s good enough for basic goals like having more energy and focus. XT Black has unnecessary stimulants added which only increases the risk, but not the benefits. Overall though, neither of them scores as high as what we’d expect from a good fat burner, which is why you should check all of your options before buying either one.
